"Gem of the Fancy"

The Netherland Dwarf is one of the most popular breeds of rabbits. It is recognized in more colors than any other breed, and is the smallest rabbit recognized by the ARBA, weighing no more than 2 1/2 pounds. Hillside Gems raises the varieties REW, Siamese Smoke Pearl, Siamese Sable, Sable Point, Tort, Sable Marten, Smoke Pearl Marten, and Himi. Below are a few pictures of our breeding stock... I have tried to get their good sides... but it isn't always that simple...

"Poser" is from Moses Lake. The story is that last Spring he was bred to 15 does and not one became pregnant, so he won him in a contest and he now is our little rabbitry mascot. This Spring I plan on testing him again, just to make sure... look out for Poser's litters due this spring....

Magic here is a very nice doe from Washington out of Torts and Sable Points. I had planned for her to be bred to my sables, but now she is going to be one of the does to be tested with Poser. Magic is a full littermate to the BOB winner at the recent Petco '04 show. I can't wait to show her some more and then get her in the breeding program...

We are proud to announce that two Tort does from Rainbeau's and Countryfield's Lines will be joining us in May. These girls will help out with Poser, and give me a head start in the Tort variety....

TMR's Mimi, Smoke doe
mimi.jpg
This beautiful doe has a BOS win, and currently has a litter of 3...

Mimi has finally delivered her first live litter... we got 1 sable, 1 smoke, and 1 seal, all sired by Widrig's Smokey. Her first litter was a peanut and a stuck kit that didn't make it, so am happy to find a live litter. The litter was born March 7, 2004...

Rainbeau's Reba

This gal will be joining us in May along with one of her daughters

Erickson's Nellie, Chestnut Doe
nellie2.jpg
This 5 year old girl has 4 legs to her name, including a BOB - '00 ANDRC Nationals Youth in Tuscon

Erickson's Nellie is my only Chestnut left from when I raised them. She was given to me by John Nyberg and I absolutely love her. She has never produced a kit in her whole life, which was too bad since she has 3 BOG wins, and a National BOB win...

We will adding more does and 1 buck to our rabbitry in the next 2-3 months, which will include 2 tort does, 1 sable marten doe, 1 himi doe, and 1 REW buck. Check back in May for the first arrivals....
