Raising Quality Netherland Dwarfs & Dwarf Hotots in Northwest Oregon

welcomepic.jpg

Welcome to Hillside Gem's Official Rabbitry Website! We are a small rabbitry consisting of 25+ wholes in Scappoose Oregon. We focus on Netherland Dwarfs & Dwarf Hotots. We have moved our website from Geocities to Tripod, just to get a new look. Please bear with me as the whole site isn't up and running yet.

We specialize in the shaded Netherland Dwarfs which include Siamese Sable, Siamese Smoke Pearl, Sable Point, Tort, Sable Marten, Smoke Pearl Marten, Ruby-Eyed White, & Himalayan. The Dwarf Hotots are the standard black-banded varieties. We are a small rabbitry located in Northwest Oregon. It is usually rainy and wet during the whole year with the exception of Summer. We try to get around to as many shows as we can. This is our first year of ARBA Sanctioned shows, and we hope to do well in them. We hope to see you around the shows....

Jr. Buck & Jr. Doe, Born: March 2, 2004

We started out in 2002 with a pair of Black Otter Netherland Dwarfs. I bred this pair and got 3 otters, and 2 smoke pearl martens. The picture above in one of the smoke martens. I then knew that the shades were my favorite. In the Fall of 2003, I brought home a pair of Sables form a local Netherland show, but never had any luck with the doe. I then brought home a new siamese smoke pearl doe to start my shaded program. I do have a litter from them now in March 2004, and I am now starting shaded martens and torts.

The Dwarf Hotots were another story. I wanted to start a new breed, not much differnt form the Netherland Dwarf, but something no one else in my county raised. I came across Dwarf Hotots. I brought home a pair of beautiful breeding bunnies, another doe, and another buck, and now have a small program of Dwarf Hotots going on. My first litter was born March 2, and I look forward to working and showing this wonderful new breed. The dwarf hotot is a less-common breed, especially compared to the Netherland Dwarf, Holland Lop, and Mini Rex. I now plan to get this breed up in the ranks with the top breeds, since I absolutely love this new breed....
